As had been rumoured, Rocksteady Studios isn't working on the prequel, with the project placed into the hands of Warner Bros. Games Montreal. Heading up the team is comic fan Eric Holmes, who was lead designer of open world action titles The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype.

Whilst the studio switch might be cause for concern, WB Montreal has been given full access to Rocksteady's modified version of the Unreal Engine in order to maintain the same look and feel of previous games.

But Eidos has "worked very hard to boost the rendering aspect" of Epic's current-gen engine.

Despite being one of the first next-gen titles to be revealed, the game's producer Stephane Roy explained that the decision to stick with Unreal Engine 3 rather than opt for Epic's next-gen Unreal Engine 4 was a matter of timing and "flexibility".

PS4 'isn't quite as powerful as Epic was hoping for,' Digital Foundry reports (UE4 Demo: PS4 vs. PC)

Added: 04.04.2013 8:18 | 0 views | 0 comments

Although Epic Games publicly has high praise for PS4, the wizards at Digital Foundry have determined that maybe "the next generation of console hardware isn't quite as powerful as Epic was hoping for." How did they come to this conclusion? By comparing the first Unreal Engine 4 tech demo, running on a PC equipped with an Nvidia GTX 680, with the latest presentation running on a PlayStation. By analyzing the two, minute differences where the PS4 comes short can be found. "The biggest casualty is the omission of real-time global illumination, which produced some really impressive lighting in the original presentation," Digital Foundry writes in their report. "GPU particles are fewer in number, depth of field has been significantly retooled and isn't quite as impactful on PS4, while object-based motion blur appears to have been removed. The flowing lava effect had real depth and texture to it in the original PC version - on PS4, it's significantly flatter."
